LCWU Collaborates with Aziz Jehan Begum Trust to Empower Differently-Abled Students

Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has taken a groundbreaking step towards inclusivity and accessibility by forging a strategic partnership with Aziz Jehan Begum Trust (AJBT) for the Blind, Lahore. An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on the 3rd of May, 2024, solidifying a commitment to support and empower visually impaired students.

The scope of cooperation outlined in the MoU encompasses a wide array of collaborative endeavors, including joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and various activities aimed at fostering academic and personal development. Additionally, the agreement ensures access to essential software and facilities, facilitates the sharing of data, publications, and information, and explores other areas of mutual interest.

LCWU currently hosts over 80 differently-abled students across multiple departments, underscoring the institution’s dedication to providing equitable opportunities for all learners. This milestone achievement is the result of tireless dedication and unwavering commitment, notably spearheaded by Dr. Asifa Kamal, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Statistics at LCWU.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Shugufta Naz, Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University, and Mr. Mian Kamran Afzal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Aziz Jehan Begum Trust for the Blind. Controller Examination LCWU Ms. Huma Tariq also attended the event. Prof. Dr. Shugufta Naz commended the collaborative efforts of the entire team, recognizing the initiative as a testament to LCWU’s ethos of inclusivity and excellence.

The event was attended by senior administrative officials and faculty members from relevant departments, highlighting the collective commitment to creating a more accessible and inclusive learning environment.
