Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor has been appointed as the new President of NDU

Lt Gen Asif Ghafoor has been appointed as the new President of the National Defence University (NDU), Pakistan’s premier institution for advanced military education. Lt Gen Ghafoor is a highly decorated and experienced officer with a distinguished career spanning over three decades.

Lt Gen Ghafoor is a graduate of the Command & Staff College in Quetta, Command & Staff College Bandung in Indonesia, and the National Defence University in Islamabad. He holds a master’s degree in Strategic Studies.

Lt Gen Ghafoor has held a number of key positions in the Pakistan Army, including Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Officer Commanding 40 Division in Okara, and Inspector General Communications and Information Technology. He is currently serving as Quetta Corps Commander.

Lt Gen Ghafoor is a recipient of the COAS Commendation Card for operations in Bajaur during 2008 and the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military). He is widely respected for his professionalism, expertise, and leadership.

The appointment of Lt Gen Ghafoor as President of NDU is a testament to his outstanding service and capabilities. He is expected to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role and lead NDU into a new era of excellence.

The NDU is Pakistan’s premier institution for advanced military education. NDU offers a range of postgraduate courses for senior military officers, civil servants, and diplomats from Pakistan and around the world.
