Syrian Delegation Visits PU to Strengthen Educational Ties

In a bid to bolster educational relations between Syria and Pakistan, a high-level Syrian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Rami Waheed Al Dhulli, embarked on a visit to Punjab University (PU). The delegation, comprising senior officials of the Ministry of Education and educational personalities, convened with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood at his office.

During the meeting, Dr. Rami Waheed Al Dhulli expressed a keen interest in fostering practical measures to enhance educational cooperation between the two nations. Emphasizing the significance of academic collaboration, he articulated the desire to leverage the research and experiences of Punjab University (PU) faculty members. Highlighting the importance of educational exchange, particularly in the realm of information technology, he proposed sending Syrian students’ theses to Pakistani experts for evaluation.

Moreover, Dr. Al Dhulli conveyed sentiments of gratitude, noting the profound affection of the Syrian people towards Pakistan and acknowledging Pakistan’s support during challenging times. He underscored the mutual goal of augmenting human resources through collaborative efforts.

In response, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood provided insights into Punjab University’s academic prowess, illustrating its international appeal with students hailing from various countries including Africa, Palestine, and Iran. He assured the delegation of PU’s commitment to facilitating partnerships with Syrian universities, citing the institution’s impressive track record in fields such as Information Technology, Agriculture, and Biology. Prof. Mahmood also highlighted PU’s strong standing in global rankings, with 19 departments featured in the QS ranking.

Following the meeting, the Syrian delegation embarked on a tour of various departments within Punjab University, including the esteemed Punjab University Library.

The visit not only symbolizes a step towards strengthening educational ties between Syria and Pakistan but also underscores the shared commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering international collaboration in academia.
