The Chinese Consulate in Lahore has generously allocated a grant of Rs 4 million for renovation works at Punjab University’s Oriental College, marking a significant step towards enhancing academic infrastructure. During his visit to Punjab University, Chinese Consul General Mr. Zhao Shiren paid a courtesy call on PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood, highlighting the growing collaboration between China and Pakistan in the field of education.

Accompanied by Oriental College Principal Prof Dr. Nabeela Rehman, Director of Sports Prof Dr. Zaffar Iqbal Butt, Registrar Dr. Ahmed Islam, Additional Treasurer Rao Muhammad Tahir Rafique, and Chief Engineer Faiz-ul-Hassan Sipra, the meeting was a testament to the shared commitment to educational advancement.

The Chinese delegation expressed keen interest in bolstering the facilities at the Punjab University (PU) Department of Sports, particularly focusing on modernizing amenities for tennis, basketball, badminton, and the swimming pool. This move reflects the deepening cooperation between the two nations in promoting sports and physical education.

Notably, the Chinese representatives commended the educational initiatives undertaken by the Punjab University Confucius Institute, expressing satisfaction and optimism regarding its continued progress. Prof Dr. Khalid Mehmood was thanked for his support, with both sides reaffirming their dedication to fostering stronger ties between Punjab University and Chinese academic institutions in the days ahead.
