PU HCBF hold seminar on Insurance and Takaful

In a bid to bridge the gap between academia and industry, Punjab University’s Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) hosted a seminar focusing on the burgeoning opportunities within Pakistan’s insurance sector. The seminar, titled ‘Insurance and Takaful,’ aimed to enlighten students about the evolving landscape of insurance and the potential career paths it offers.

Addressing the attendees, including students, faculty members, and industry professionals, the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University (PU), Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, underscored the vast array of opportunities within the insurance sector. He emphasized the college’s commitment to grooming skilled graduates in alignment with the industry’s demands.

Dr. Mahmood highlighted the increasing demand for graduates within the insurance field, leading the college to introduce new academic programs tailored to meet these needs. He commended the efforts of the college administration in organizing a successful career fair focused on the insurance sector.

Muhammad Hisham, Chairman of the Insurance Association of Pakistan (IAP) North Region, echoed Dr. Mahmood’s sentiments, emphasizing the excellent employment prospects within the industry. He emphasized that as students acquire the requisite skills, they become increasingly attractive to employers, with lucrative offers becoming the norm.

Dr. Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, Principal of HCBF, emphasized the college’s efforts in establishing robust connections with the insurance industry. He highlighted the importance of the curriculum being designed to meet market demands, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for roles within insurance companies.

The event also marked the inauguration of a career fair and Takaful week at the college, providing a platform for students to interact directly with representatives from major insurance companies. The fair featured stalls from prominent insurance firms, offering students the opportunity to explore potential career paths and engage in on-the-spot interviews for employment opportunities.

As the seminar concluded, it became evident that Punjab University’s Hailey College of Banking and Finance is playing a pivotal role in nurturing talent for Pakistan’s burgeoning insurance sector. With strong industry linkages and a curriculum aligned with market needs, graduates from HCBF are poised to make significant contributions to the evolving landscape of insurance in the country.
