What is CSS?

CSS stands for Central Superior Services. It is a competitive exam organized by Federal Public Services Commission (FPSC) to recruit civil officers on a merit basis. People from all over Pakistan appear in this exam to secure higher jobs as civil servants. CSS is one of the toughest exams in Pakistan.

Many people appear for the CSS examination, but unfortunately, only a few can pass these examinations with flying marks. Many people have this huge misconception that CSS examinations are easy and can be prepared only in a few months, but this is not entirely true, as CSS test preparation is no piece of cake and requires a lot of time and effort.

What are the parts of CSS exams?

CSS exam consists of four major parts: a written test, a medical test, a viva, and a psychological test. The written exam has six compulsory subjects and six optional subjects, and the candidates can select it from the subjects according to their previous education records. However, the minimum mark required for qualifying for the compulsory subjects is around 40%, while for the optional subjects is at least 30%. The candidate who qualified after the written test will be shortlisted for further parts such as medical, viva, and psychological tests.

What are the Requirements for CSS?

Students wishing to appear in CSS examinations must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Nationality for CSS

Only Pakistani nationals are eligible to apply. Or a permanent resident of the state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Qualification for CSS

At least 14 years of education to graduate with a minimum of 2nd division is required from a recognized HEC university. However, if a candidate has the 3rd division in their bachelor’s degree, they can only apply if they hold a higher division in the master’s degree.

Age limit for CSS

To take the CSS exam, a candidate must be between the ages of 21 and 30. However, the age limit is relaxed specifically for those currently serving as government employees or those belonging to recognized tribes.

How to apply for the CSS exam?

For everyone wanting to appear in CSS exams 2022, the date of applying has come closer. The expected date to apply for the CSS examination is from the 5th of October till the 3rd of November. As per the reports, the online registration has started now, and the candidates can send their Printed Application Form, educational documents, CNIC, domicile, and Passport size photographs to the FPSC headquarter in Islamabad. To apply online, students must visit the FPSC website for the online application facility and keep an eye on the latest updates and exam dates.

CSS admission fee?

Candidates must deposit Rs.2200/– as an examination fee in the nearest Govt. State Bank of Pakistan/National Bank of Pakistan under the account head “C02101-Organs of State Exam fee (FPSC Receipt) before the closing date.

What are the places of Interviews?

The FPSC conducts CSS examinations in several cities of Pakistan, which include:

  • Karachi
  • Larkana
  • Multan
  • Quetta
  • Peshawar
  • Sukkur
  • Rawalpindi
  • Gilgit
  • Faisalabad
  • D.I. Khan
