Dr Hammad Ullah wins Young Scientist Award

Dr. Hammad Ullah has won the Young Scientist Award for Best Oral Presentation at 1 st European Symposium on Phytochemicals in Medicine and food (1-EuSPMF) held in Belgrade, Serbia on September 7-9, 2022.

Brief about Hammad Ullah Dr. Hammad Ullah was born in the small village of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa known as Manki (District Swabi). After passing SSC and HCCS exams with good grades, he secured admission to the Department of Pharmacy, Kohat University of Science and Technology Pakistan, from where he obtained a PharmD degree in 2015. In 2017, he received an MPhil degree in Pharmaceutical sciences from the Department of Pharmacy, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Pakistan.

After defending his MPhil degree’s research work and thesis, he was offered admission in the Ph.D. studies in 2019 at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Naples Federico II Italy, with a fully funded scholarship. Currently, he is working as a Visiting researcher at the Department of Analytical and Food Chemistry University of Vigo, Spain. During his doctoral studies, he was blessed to work under the supervision of well-known and highly cited Professors. From a research point of view, Dr. Hammad focuses mainly on developing nutraceuticals for metabolic disorders (mainly Diabetes and Obesity). In the last 4-years, 30 plus scientific articles in international journals with high impact factors and 7 book chapters have been published.

He also served as Guest Editor/Editorial board member and referee for numerous international journals. Dr. Hammad has presented his work at national and international conferences and is the recipient of the Young Scientist Award for Best Oral Presentation at 1 st European Symposium on Phytochemicals in Medicine and food (1-EuSPMF) held in Belgrade, Serbia on September 7-9, 2022.

Dr. Hammad is a regular member and contributor of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), International Natural Product Sciences Taskforce (INPST), Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE), and IUPHAR Mediterranean Group of Natural Products Pharmacology as a scientist and a resource contributor as well. His ultimate aim is to return to Pakistan with his extensive research on the subject and serve the country.

Brief about the Symposium

1-EuSPMF is organized by the International Association of Dietetic Nutrition and Safety (IADNS) and the Institute of Food Technology and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, and supported by the Serbian Chemical Society and the Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE). 1-EuSPMF aims to see the recent progress in phytochemicals and their implementation in medicine and food.

The demand for high-quality food products that have beneficial effects on human health encourages researchers to study natural products intensively. In light of these principles, scientists in various fields (from 18 countries) were welcomed to present their latest research and provide an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, discussing challenges, and setting up new research collaborations.
