Key posts in Punjab boards vacant ahead of inter and matric examinations

The Pakistan Tehrik I Insaf (PTI) led Punjab government has put the future of thousands of students at stake as 11 key posts are vacant in seven Intermediate and secondary boards of different cities.

The government has been failed to appoint incumbent officers on key posts of Chairman, Secretary and Controller Examination in Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur. In some boards, these posts are temporarily filed with additional or ad-hoc charges.

It is pertinent to mention here that the final examination of Intermediate and Matriculation are about to held and the government had already announced final dates for conduction of examination as Intermediate exams will be starting on July 10 and Matric will start on July 25.

The conduction of examination is the responsibility of the Controller examination but the largest board of intermediate and secondary education Lahore is being run without any controller as the temporarily appointed Nasir Jamil was retired a few days ago. Before his retirement, his post was being managed on the additional charge.

According to sources, the seats of Secretary and Controller in Lahore Board, Chairperson, Secretary and Controller in Multan Board, Secretary in Gujranwala, Controller in DG Khan, Secretary and controller in Bahawalpur, Controller in Faisalabad and Secretary in Rawalpindi Board are empty for last several years. However, the government has appointed temporary officials on these posts.

The sources said that the nonavailability of officials on these posts may create problems in the conduction of intermediate and matriculation examination. In case of any error or problem occur, who will take responsibility, sources said adding that remaining vacant of these posts ahead of the final examination is sheer negligence on part of the Higher Education Department as well as government.

While the officials of HED has claimed that appointments on these posts are under process and soon interviews will be held.
