Pakistan first transgender school participate in athletics competitions

Students from Pakistan’s first transgender school participated in the athletics competitions under the School Olympics games 2022 organized by School Education Department (SED) South Punjab.

According to details, Pakistan’s first transgender school was set up in Multan and located in the Government Girls Comprehensive Higher Secondary School Gulgasht. The school was established under a pilot project, Transeducation.

Students of transgender school participated in athletics competitions in the school Olympics games. The transgender students participated in the 100 meters, 200 meters race and shot-put events.

The medals were given to the position holders. Meanwhile, Bahawalpur division teams qualified for football, hockey, table tennis and volleyball final while Bahawalnagar team was on top in athletics competitions.

The final matches would be played tomorrow (November-12). The football, hockey, badminton, volleyball and table tennis matches were played in the semi-final round during the school Olympics games here on Friday.

Pakistan’s First ever transgender school was established by Punjab Government and School Education Department in July 2021 in Multan.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics as per the 2017 census of people and households, total transgender population of Pakistan is 10418. Out of which 8.3% are living in KP, 0.25% is living in FATA, 64.39% are living in the Punjab, 24.25% are living in Sind, 1.04% is living in Baluchistan, and 1.27% in the federal capital territory.
