In a ceremonious event held at Punjab University (PU) Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS), the esteemed alma mater celebrated the remarkable achievement of Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, who was recently conferred with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. The gathering, attended by PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies Prof Dr Muhammad Hammad Lakhvi, faculty members, and students, was a testament to Dr Naeemi’s outstanding contributions to society and religion.
Addressing the attendees, PU VC Dr Khalid Mahmood extended heartfelt commendations to the illustrious services rendered by Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, who currently serves as the Head of Jamia Naeemia. Dr Mahmood emphasized the debt owed to Dr Naeemi for his tireless efforts towards the betterment of Pakistani institutions, highlighting his invaluable contributions to fostering unity among Muslims. Dr Mahmood also underscored Dr Naeemi’s academic journey, noting his significant role in various committees within Punjab University, including the Syndicate and Selection Board.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon him by his alma mater, Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi humbly acknowledged the legacy of service initiated by his grandfather, Maulana Hussain Naeemi, which laid the foundation for the success of Jamia Naeemia Lahore. Dr Naeemi recounted the sacrifices made by his family members, particularly highlighting the martyrdom of Maulana Sarfraz Naeemi in the fight against terrorism, and emphasized the importance of promoting inter-religious harmony and moderation in everyday affairs.
Reflecting on the achievements of Jamia Naeemia, Dr Naeemi proudly announced that the institution has produced over 1,000 Dars-e-Nizami graduates and 15 muftis, contributing significantly to the promotion of moderation in religious education. He expressed gratitude towards Punjab University Institute of Islamic Studies for its pivotal role in his academic and personal development.
Prof Dr Muhammad Hammad Lakhvi echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging Dr Naeemi’s invaluable services to religion and expressing gratitude to VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood for his support in hosting the celebratory event. He emphasized that the recognition of Dr Naeemi with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz is a matter of great pride for Punjab University Institute of Islamic Studies.
