Punjab Govt Allocates 50 Billion for School Upgrades

The Government of Punjab has allocated Rs. 50 billion for the enhancement of more than 39,000 schools. Among these, 7,000 schools are set to advance from elementary to high level, while 32,000 schools will transition from primary to elementary level.

As per an official document cited by the media, the upgrade of elementary schools is scheduled to take place within the next two years, followed by primary schools in the subsequent three years. Additionally, these schools will receive modernized Information Technology (IT) facilities and science labs.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of timely textbook distribution. During a meeting chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz, there was a discussion on a proposal from the Punjab School Inspectorate regarding the establishment of a Standardized Matriculation Examination Board and the centralization of school education matters.

She has also announced intentions to set up schools for transgender children at the divisional level across the province and emphasized the significance of character development programs in government schools. Special education facilities will be provided in at least one government school in each district.
