Hurry! Deadline for Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2018 Is Nearing

LinkedIn

If you are planning to pursue higher education in the UK but still haven’t figured out a way to fund the studies, the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2018 might well be your redemption.

The United Kingdom (UK) Department for International Development (DFID) along with UK universities fund a number of scholarships each year for the citizens of developing Commonwealth countries who are unable to afford study. Every year, over 200 scholarships are offered in a number of eligible courses, across a number of participating UK universities. The scholarships cover Master courses only and do not fund undergraduate courses, PhD study, or pre-sessional English language courses.

Scholarship Value and Duration

Each scholarship offers the selected candidates agreed on tuition fees, examinations fees, warm clothing allowance, stipend, study travel grant, books allowance, approved airfare from home country to the UK and return at the end of the degree along with excess baggage allowance. The scholarships are usually acceptable for one year only.

Eligibility

There are certain conditions, which the candidates must meet, before becoming eligible to apply. A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of an eligible Commonwealth country, granted refugee status by any of the eligible Commonwealth countries, or a British protected individual
  • A permanent inhabitant of a developing Commonwealth country
  • Available to start his or her academic studies in the UK at the beginning of Academic year September/October 2018
  • Holding the first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard, or second class degree and a pertinent postgraduate qualification, such as a Master’s degree
  • Not have worked or studied for one academic year or more in any developed country
  • Unable to afford study in a UK university without scholarship

Instructions For Application

You should apply to an eligible Master’s course at a UK university that is included in the shared scholarship scheme via CSC’s Electronic Application System (EAS) between February 23, 2018 and April 17, 2018. You must apply through your chosen university to Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. Moreover, you must check up with your selected university for their definite advice regarding admission rules and requirements before applying. Some universities may demand you to complete their own course application form with its separate closing date.

It is important to read the 2018 Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Terms and Conditions and visit the official website for detailed information on how to apply for this scholarship.
